Yarra Valley pinot noir at its absolute pinnacle. There’s a hint of briar and sweet leather about the slightly rustic, spicy forest floor aromas of sweet red cherries, plums and raspberries, while a fragrant rose petal perfume slowly emerges from the glass. Superb in its sappy, silky texture, but packing a punch with an effortless delivery of pristine but slightly wild small berry and cherry fruit, it’s framed by the finest of tannins and the most natural of fresh acids. A masterpiece.
Very powerful, assertive pinot with superlative depth and weight of complex pinot fruit and a plush, velvet-smooth texture that would have been rated significantly higher if not for the presence of brett-derived influence that some will detect. That will not prevent this perfumed, musky and statuesque wine from delivering a great deal of pleasure to a great many people.
A pretty, floral and charming pinot with a fragrance of rose petals, strawberries and red cherries over nuances of cinnamon, cloves, herbal undertones and restrained vanilla oak. Sweet, smooth and juicy, its palate has some flesh and pleasing fine-grained support, presenting lively up-front and slightly confectionary flavours of cherry and berries. Fine and supple, with a herbal thread beneath, it’s a delightful wine for shorter term cellaring.
