An elegant, fine, supple and slightly herbaceous cabernet blend of pleasing prettiness and charm. Its dusty, leafy bouquet of violets, mulberries and cassis, sweet cedar/vanilla oak reveals forest floor-like undertones, hints of tobacco and dried herbs. Supple and restrained, its loose-knit palate of vibrant dark berry fruit and sweet chocolate/vanilla oak finishes a little short of its usual length and drive, with just a hint of sappiness.
Quite a departure in style from recent vintage, this very ripe, sumptuous and California-like cabernet presents a slightly confectionary bouquet of cassis, violets, blackberries and sweet red berries handsomely backed by sweet cedar/dark chocolate oak, with vanilla undertones. It’s quite viscous and voluptuous, with pruney and almost porty plushness of fruit underpinned by smooth tannins and dusty, mocha oak.
Long, measured and superbly focused. Lifted by scents of violets and cherry liqueur, its minty bouquet of violets, cassis, mulberries and dark plums knits tightly with aromatic, fine-grained oak and has a wild, earthy aspect. Underpinned by fine, crunchy tannins of genuine firmness, it presents an alluringly deep, dark presence of cabernet fruit smoothed out by polished oak and backed by gamey, menthol-like nuances, finishing with persistent flavours, fresh acids and faintly minty, herbal notes. Just a fraction confectionary for an even higher score.
Unusually closed, herbal and lacking its typical brightness and intensity. Its meaty, slightly resiny and gamey aromas of cassis, blueberries, dark plums and assertive cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak with dusty undertones reveal a hint of dark olives. It’s long and measured, with a subdued expression of cassis, mulberries, briar and blueberry flavours knit with smooth, polished and assertive pine needle-like oak and supported by gravelly tannins. As it ages it has developed some cigarboxy complexity but its fruit appears both stewy and green-edged,
A very elegant, measured cabernet whose slightly gamey bouquet of cassis, mulberries, dark cherries and sweet vanilla/cedar is lifted by a floral perfume but also subdued by dull, slightly stale oaky notes. Long and polished, with deep flavours of small dark berries and plums knit with meaty, creamy oak influences and supported by a pliant, powdery undercarriage, it finishes with some green edges plus a cardboardy flatness that robs it of freshness and vitality.
Lacking its historic polish and conviction, with a greenish, minty bouquet of meaty small dark berries and plums knit with rather stale, cedary oak, it’s rather dull and menthol-like. Medium to full-bodied, with assertive but rather raw and edgy oak influences somewhat dulling its ripe flavours of small black, blue and red berries, it’s supported by a fine, dusty spine. It finishes without great length, but with an edgy note and a suggestion of formic acid.
Rustic and meaty, with dark fruits, earthy notes and a faintly metallic edge.
Sumptuous dark cherries, cassis and mulberries with luxuriant cedary oak, mineral finish.
Ripe, faintly jammy aromas of cassis and dark red fruits reveal unusual lanolin-like and possible mouldy notes. It’s medium in weight, lacking structure and tannins, and also missing a genuine core of flavour and freshness. Gritty and tannic. firm and chewy, it’s rather dried out and awkward in its presence, lacking conviction and wrapped in a faintly green-edged acidity.
A firm, heavily extracted cabernet whose cooked and faintly sweaty bouquet of faintly under and over-ripe fruits reveals nuances of prunes and greenish notes. It’s forward and sinewy, then hard and blocky, lacking freshness and brightness of fruit.
A deep fragrance of juicy dark berries and dark plums and polished cedar/chocolate oak precedes a long and complete palate whose rather closed but latent core of translucently clear fruit is framed by a firm, dusty spine.
