Warm and generous, this big, broad and sumptuous dry white has a herbal, faintly mineral and reductive bouquet of melon and lemon sherbet with undertones of cut grass and a skinsy, green-fruited aspect. ItÕs rather warm and luscious, filling the mouth with fruit but tends to lack tightness and focus towards the finish.
Heavily worked, this smoky, rather oxidative and leesy, cheesy young white has a pungent, wild and funky bouquet of gooseberries and passionfruit with nutty, creamy undertones. It’s moderately long and profoundly textured, with a meaty expression of apple, melon and Packham pear flavours finishing with savoury, meaty influences, but without its customary freshness or focus.
Bright and stylish, with fresh, lightly herbaceous aromas of gooseberries, melon revealing creamy, nutty, leesy undertones. ItÕs elegant and fruit-driven, with a pleasingly long and vibrant core of fruit underpinned by a lick of wet slate and punctuated by a fresh cut of tightly integrated lemony acid.
An elegant oak-matured semillon whose delicate, dusty and faintly smoky bouquet of citrus fruits, gooseberries and passionfruit are knit with creamy, nutty oak and a light grassiness. ItÕs long and brightly lit, with fresh melon and gooseberry flavour underpinned by nutty cashew/vanilla oak, extending smooth and creamy towards a fresh cut of brisk, citrusy acids.
A pure, vibrant and tightly focused regional blend whose brightly lit and faintly herbaceous aromas of gooseberries, melon and lychees are backed by faintly charry oak and a hint of passionfruit. It’s long and intense, with gooseberry and lemony flavours underpinned by a fine dustiness, finishing with persistent flavours and a refreshing acidity.
Heady, opulent smoky aromas of cedar and cigarboxes over lightly meaty suggestions of undergrowth. Superbly preserved, with a long, harmonious and fleshy palate of surprising fruit sweetness and vivaciousness, culminating in a lingering and savoury finish of fennel and firm, intact tannins.
Youthful, intense aromas of red and black berries with earthy, leathery and chocolate-like complexity. Smooth, fine-grained and dusty, but bursting with small dark berries, currants and prunes and tightly framed by assertive, almost gritty tannins. Not hugely complex, but has time ahead.
Dusty, herbal and lightly smoky, with leafy aromas of intense dark fruit, suggestions of tar and chocolate oak. Reserved and herbal, with its remaining fruit sweetness beginning to dry out, leaving a slightly sappy and green-edged extract of tannins. Perhaps showing shaded fruit influences, and certainly past its best.
Perfumed, fragrant and complex, with ripe aromas of redcurrants, blackberries and sweet cedar/vanilla oak. Smooth and seamless, with a plush palate steeped with penetrative flavours of small berries and a light earthiness. Framed by creamy tannins but marginally short, it’s an elegant predecessor of modern Moss Wood wines.
Richly laden with ripe fruits, cedar and leather, chocolate and lanolin, and a suggestion of herbaceousness; a truly sumptuous and plush, but fine-grained claret of length and structure. Very complex, with lively small fruits and restrained oak.
Leafy, rather soupy and vegetative, with cedary oak. Shaded fruit qualities of hard, but sappy tannins and generally under-ripe flavour development.
