Close to the perfect expression of this variety and region. Dark and brooding, wild and meaty, with powerful aromas of dark plums, currants, blackberries and bitumen backed by white pepper and cloves, itÕs long, firm and penetrative. Supported by very astringent, chalky tannins, itÕs dark and meaty, finishing with strength and balance.

Morris Bin No. 158 Durif 2008
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Typically deep, layered and powerful, with a meaty, musky and chocolatey bouquet of dark plums and blackberries, currants and raisins backed by leathery complexity. Underpinned by firm, fine and drying tannins, its assertive core of briary dark fruit extends long down the palate, finishing with lingering blueberry flavours and a pronounced meatiness. For the long term, but not too heavy-handed to open sooner.

Morris Bin No. 158 Durif 2009
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Sumptuous and meaty, with great length and density of varietal flavour, it reveals a wild, spicy and leathery bouquet whose fiery presence of plums, raisins and blackberries is backed by aromas of roasting pan scrapings. Its ripe and slightly baked palate of blackberries, dark plums, briar and dark chocolates is gripped by a firm and drying extract, finishing with length and strength, plus a spirity warmth. Well balanced, but a fraction overcooked for a higher score.

Morris Bin No. 158 Durif 2010
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Still rather closed, this exemplary Rutherglen durif has a strikingly intense, dark and meaty bouquet of blackberry and dark plum compote lifted by scents of dark wild flowers and backed by nuances of leather and chocolate. Framed by firm, tightly integrated chalky tannins, its profound, wild and briary core of sweet, tarry fruit reveals notes of game meats and polished leather, finishing long and firm with a refreshing acidity. Give it all the time you can.

    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    $24.00

Luscious, deeply flavoured and finely balanced, this excellent durif presents an almost bloody and sour-edged expression of dark cherry, plum and berry flavour backed by typical varietal notes of roasting meats and dried herbs: bay leaf and oregano especially. There’s an undercurrent of dark chocolate and a lingering note of black jelly bean. A superb red for a very good barbecue.
