Yarra Yering Carrodus Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Slightly meaty scents of cassis, blueberries, dark plums and smoky, faintly varnishy vanilla oak precede a long palate of moderately full weight. Its charming presence of blue, black and red fruits knits easily with fine cedar/chocolate oak, but then its rasping acidity cuts in, leaving the wine to finish green and almost sour.

  • Yarra Yering Carrodus Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $275.00

Perhaps the finest cabernet from this site for many a year. Its heady fragrance of violets, cassis, mulberries, dark cherries and plums reveals smoky notes of cigarboxy oak and a whiff of dried herbs. Fullish to medium in weight, it’s long and plush, delivering a plush and varietally spotless core of dark berries and plums tightly knit with creamy cedary oak and tannins that become more velvety with aeration. Beautifully balanced, it’s a long-term wine that will surely develop more richness and weight as it ages.

  • Yarra Yering Carrodus Chardonnay 2022
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $175.00

A long, flavoursome and textural chardonnay that delivers plenty of fruit but not perhaps the complexity for an even higher rating. Its creamy bouquet of grapefruit, white peach and lightly smoky vanilla oak reveals a hint of meaty yeast-derived influence. Medium in weight, with some flesh and juiciness, it’s smooth and unctuous, unfolding a charming, almost fluffy core of peach, grapefruit and melon-like fruit, moving down a slatey spine towards a refreshing finish of bright acids. Very easy to enjoy.

    Yarra Yering Carrodus Merlot 2001
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Extremely concentrated (cropped around half a tonne per acre), it’s slightly raw (understandably) and perhaps does reveal slightly sappy under-ripe influences as well as possibly overripe fruit undertones.

    Yarra Yering Carrodus Merlot 2003
    Jeremy’s score 89/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Fragrant and floral, with lightly dusty and leafy aromas of dark cherries and sweet cedary oak over hints of animal hide and game meats. Green-edged and tending towards a slight rawness, the palate frames an herbaceous, snow pea and capsicum-like expression of dusty fruit with sappy, fine tannins.

    Yarra Yering Carrodus Merlot 2004
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Finely honed, supple and willowy merlot, with a floral perfume of black cherries, cassis and mulberries backed by cedar/vanilla oak and herbal and tobaccoey undertones. Long and smooth, its vibrant cherry/plum/cassis fruit and restrained oak reveal some faint dusty, leafy undertones. It’s tightly integrated and brightly flavoured but lacks the length for a higher rating.

    Yarra Yering Carrodus Merlot 2005
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A ripe, generous and deeply fruited merlot whose delicate, floral and dark-fruited aromas of mulberries, dark cherries and plums knits neatly with sweet cedar/vanilla oak. Framed by rather kernel-like tannin, its sumptuous expression of dark berry/cherry flavour and dusty, newish oak culminates in a persistent, meaty finish of refreshing acidity. It’s all about restrained power.

    Yarra Yering Carrodus Merlot 2006
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A sumptuous, polished, smooth and complex merlot whose deep fragrance of dark plums, blackberries and dark cherries is handsomely backed by cedar/vanilla oak, suggestions of minerals, undergrowth and a slight meatiness. Supported by fine-grained chassis of dusty tannin, its exceptionally long, succulent and harmonious palate deftly marries sour-edged fruit and savoury oak, finishing with an invigorating acidity.

    Yarra Yering Carrodus Merlot 2007
    Jeremy’s score 82/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Clearly affected by smoke taint, with a modest presence of bright cherry, plum and dark berry flavour coupled with chocolatey oak and backed by meaty undertones. ItÕs angular and bitter, with a lean, raw and metallic ashtray-like finish.

    Yarra Yering Carrodus Merlot 2008
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Spectacularly varietal, this long, rather closed merlot will become more luscious and assertive with time. Its earthy bouquet of cranberries, mulberries, dark cherries and plums knit tightly with cedar/vanilla oak, while its palate is long and sumptuously fruited, but holds back a brooding core of pure varietal fruit. Supported by firmish, fine and loose-knit and grainy tannins, itÕs finely balanced and finishes with refreshing acidity, exceptional length and brightness.

Yarra Yering Carrodus Pinot Noir 2017
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Heady, perfumed, autumnal and potpourri-like; unctuous, layered and pristine, with densely packed cherry/berry fruit supported by al dente tannins.

Yarra Yering Carrodus Pinot Noir 2019
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Earthy, meaty aromas of raspberries, rose petals and citrus oil whole bunch influences are backed by very assertive, charry, mocha-like oak and cola. Supported by a fine, slatey backbone, itÕs initially fresh and concentrated but finishes short and thin, lacking genuine length, depth and presence of fruit.
