A powerful, assertive unoaked wine that should flesh out with time. Its pungent, nutty and slightly reductive leesy, creamy aromas of melon and honeysuckle precede a taut and rather phenolic palate of juicy melon flavour.
Lacking its customary brightness and length, this young semillon has a delicate apple-like aroma and a palate whose upfront melon and citrus-like fruit finishes with some rawness and hard edges. It finishes warm and spirity, and should flesh out into a richer, broader and earlier-drinking style than some of the finer and tighter examples of this wine.
Stylish and finely crafted, this generous and juicy semillon has a lightly herbal but punchy expression of melon and lemon fruit that becomes long, smooth and creamy before finishing with a focused, wet slate-like cut of powdery minerality. Long and tightly balanced, this lightly tropical, grassy and dusty semillon is precisely honed around a refreshing and focused cut of tight-knit acidity. Backed by nuances of cloves, cinnamon and spearmint, its round and juicy expression of melon, lemon and guava-like flavour is present right down its long and persistent palate. Very regional.
Round and generous, with a punchy bouquet of melon, lemon and white peach lifted by suggestions of flowers and vanilla oak. Its rich, creamy palate delivers a sumptuous mouthful of melon, lemon and lie juice flavour backed by meaty, lees-derived complexity. ItÕs underpinned by a fine, crunchy chalkiness, and finishes long and savoury.
Sumptuous and chewy, this meaty and rather reductive semillon presents a lightly herbal expression of melon and tropical flavours backed by minerality and creamy notes. ItÕs powerfully and richly textured, with a long, round and harmoniously acidic palate stacked with luscious ripe fruit before finishing quite dry.
Youthful, floral and funky, with a heady, crystal-clear bouquet of melon-like fruit backed by suggestions of slate and struck match. ItÕs long and evenly flavoured, with plenty of meaty, reductive complexity but immature fruit. It finishes with a faint sweetness that might be attributed to its alcoholic strength. Give it some time to settle.
Lightly grassy aromas of honeydew melon and restrained, faintly spicy oak precede a long, juicy and green-edged palate whose restrained expression of melon-like fruit and herbal undertones are gently augmented by creamy oak. It finishes fresh and lively and is likely to flesh out and build depth of flavour with time.
Finely balanced and elegant, this charming young semillon reveals a fresh, lightly grassy bouquet of melon and white peach backed by a faint creaminess. ItÕs long and brightly lit, with a pleasing fattiness and a shapely core of juicy flavour extending long and focused towards a clean, refreshing finish of lemon sherbet acids.
