    Hardys Eileen Hardy Chardonnay 2002
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Very well made, fine and austere, this multi-regional blend has a creamy fragrance of lemon meringue, grapefruit and melon with bacony and vanilla undertones. Built around a vibrant and concentrated core of citrusy fruit, it’s long and tangy, with a fine-grained, chalky mouthfeel and plenty of racy acidity. There’s just a hint of metallic greenness at the finish, but this is otherwise an excellent wine.

    Hardys Eileen Hardy Chardonnay 2004
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Complex and toasty, with smoky, mineral and creamy leesy notes beneath honeysuckle-like scents of grapefruit, lemon and melon, this finely crafted chardonnay is just a fraction herbal for a higher rating. Its long, elegant and tightly knit palate marries fresh nectarine, peach, honeydew melon and grapefruit notes with creamy, matchstick oak, a light minerality and acids that just lack a little cut and definition

    Hardys Eileen Hardy Chardonnay 2005
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A more powerful, sumptuous and assertive wine than the taut and finely crafted 2004 edition. Slightly juicy aromas of peach/melon fruit are backed by lightly smoky and spicy nuances of fine-grained and clove-like oak, with undertones of dried herbs and appealing reductive complexity. There’s almost a sour-edged and drying aspect about its long palate whose slightly phenolic texture is enhanced by its pleasingly funky qualities.

Focused, seamless and harmonious, this classic contemporary New World chardonnay marries explosive fruit and beautifully integrated winemaker-derived complexity with a rare measure of style and elegance. Fragrant and waxy, with suggestions of wheatmeal, cloves and bubblegum beneath its long, sumptuous and tropical expression of grapefruit and melon-like flavour, it is neatly bound by a taut, refreshing acidity.

Superbly balanced, complex and tightly integrated, with genuine depth and richness of fruit. Sumptuous, very smooth and seamless, itÕs long and deeply flavoured, with a spicy, ginger-like presence of peach, melon and citrus fruit backed by smoky, meaty and savoury qualities, tightly knit oak and minerals. It finishes remarkably persistent and focused, with a refreshingly bright acidity.

    Hardys Eileen Hardy Chardonnay 2009
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A brilliant chardonnay, with distinctive character and attitude. Evolving into a savoury, meaty and mealy style typical of its label and supported by the sheer quality of its pure, crystalline fruit, it reveals a complex, rather spicy and funky bouquet of grapefruit, lime juice and a chalky, mineral note suggestive of smoked oyster. Deeply flavoured but medium in weight, itÕs long and briny, with deep, vibrant fruit emphatically supported by meaty, spicy and savoury qualities, finishing with exemplary persistence and acid balance.

    Hardys Eileen Hardy Chardonnay 2010
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A very good chardonnay, even if it lacks the balance and focus of recent vintages. ItÕs pungent and mineral, with powerful, slatey aromas of melon and grapefruit backed by nuances of wax, lemon sherbet, custard and dried flowers plus a slight discord of white peach. Moderately long and juicy, sumptuous and full-flavoured, its a powerful presence of melon and grapefruit, quince and cumquat finishes with some briny aspects and a lingering note of tobacco.

An impactful and artful chardonnay of great character and complexity, based around a core of pristine, concentrated fruit. Pungent and smoky, its mineral aromas of grapefruit, melon, apple and charcuterie meats reveal nuances of tropical fruits, clove and cinnamon.
