Giaconda Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Fragrant aromas of dark cherries, raspberries and smoky oak with undertones of cinnamon, smoked meats and dusty, herbal whole bunch influences precede a long, sumptuous palate underpinned by a genuine, kernelly structure. Its deep expression of dark cherries, raspberries and herbal notes extends with assertive new oak influences down a long, fine and supple palate towards quite an earthy, savoury finish wrapped in mouthwatering acids. It marries the power of the 1992 vintage with the elegance of the 1989, with an extra dash of new oak. It would be rated even higher if had a greater length of fruit and if its stalk-derived influences had been toned down a fraction.

Long and layered, slowly unfolding earthy, meaty scents of small berries, citrus oil, sweet cherries and underbrush. Becoming smooth and velvety, its evolving palate effortlessly combines small berry, plum and cherry flavours with tight-grained polished oak and slatey tannins, finishing with drive, balance and a savoury aspect. It’s acquiring plenty of meaty, leathery complexity.

Giaconda Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Alluring and heady, floral and spicy, its musky bouquet of red rose petals, red cherries and raspberries reveals suggestions of citrus oil and dried herbs, becoming more opulent and heady with aeration. Medium in weight, but certain to build, its deep layers of brightly lit red fruits and measured oak overlie a firmish spine of dusty tannin that will become more assertive over time. ItÕs unctuous and fleshy, but becomes more restrained and textural as it moves towards a musky, savoury finish. Reminiscent of the classic Giaconda pinots of 1988 and 1991.

    Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2008
    Jeremy’s score 98/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Sweetly fruited but savoury, this modern super-Rh™ne delivers exceptional power, depth and balance. Deeply perfumed, wild and heady, its smoky bouquet of cracked pepper, charcuterie meats, dark fruits, musky and exotic spices precedes a supremely fine-grained but alluringly deep, dark and sumptuous palate. Handsomely oaked, its vibrant presence of black, blue and red berry/plum flavours are tightly knit with meaty, gamey complexity, extending long towards the finish with remarkable persistence, finishing with an emphatic acidity.

    Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2010
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Complex and structured, this spicy, smoky shiraz marries dark, meaty black and red berry fruits with tight, fine-grained savoury oak and a very fine but robust backbone. Scented with dark flowers, black pepper and minerals, itÕs deeply layered and reductive, finishing with a lingering presence of fruit and a hint of graphite. As it has aged it has acquired more richness in mid palate as the fruit finds more balance with its not inconsiderable winemaking artefact.

    Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2011
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Stylish and heavily worked, this is a finely balanced shiraz from a difficult vintage whose herbal edge has been tempered with oak and careful aeration to develop more balance and stability. Dusty and herbal, its faintly leafy and peppery bouquet of sweet red cherries, cranberries and red plums knits with smoky, faintly meaty and mocha-like oak. Medium to full-bodied, with genuine length of restrained small berry and blackberry flavours supported by fine, crunchy tannins, it finishes long and gentle with a fresh acidity.

    Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2012
    Jeremy’s score 98/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A wine in a time capsule. Quite extraordinary, and just beginning to reveal what it will ultimately deliver. Exotically spiced, with heady, deeply layered scents of dark berries, musky spices and black pepper backed by nuances of smoked meats, fine-grained new chocolatey oak, itÕs lifted by alluring floral notes and suggestions of underbrush. Still very closed and youthfully introverted, it’s beginning to reveal an excellent length of dark, plush, briary fruit knit tightly around sweet new fine-grained oak and fine, powder-dry tannins, finishing with astonishing savoury balance and structure. Just wait for it.

    Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2014
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Full to medium in weight, this smooth and handsomely oaked shiraz takes times to unfold its heady, wild and briary perfume of blackberries, blueberries, cassis and small red fruits. Backed by smoky, chocolatey and cedary notes and lifted by a whiff of dark flowers, it then drives long and firmish down a faintly mineral spine of drying tannins, leaving a powerful impression of deeply layered, meaty and sumptuously ripened dark fruit. Finishing with elegance and savoury charm, it will only become smoother and more velvety with time.

    Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2016
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

Complex and mineral, with spicy, almost minty notes of dried herbs, small forest berries, smoked meats and cedary oak. Long, smooth and medium-bodied, itÕs seamless and savoury, with a fine if not stellar length of fruit supported by al dente tannins and finishing with smoky reductive aspects. Sophisticated and savoury.

    Giaconda Estate Vineyard Shiraz 2017
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

One of the most Francophilic of the Giaconda shirazes to date, with dusty, herbal, floral aromas of small black and red berries, smoked meats and restrained chocolate/cedar oak backed by notes of cracked pepper and musky spice. Long and supple, it unfolds a lively core of small black and red berries underpinned by fine, drying tannins, finishing with savoury aspects. ThereÕs just a little too much of a herbal note through this wine for a higher rating.
