Coldstream Hills Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A polished and finely balanced cabernet with a dusty, floral expression of cassis, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, mulberries knit tightly with cedar/vanilla oak and overlying nuances of underbrush and green beans. Very smooth and supple, medium to full in weight, its piercing but slightly green-edged palate exudes elegance and restraint. It finishes with pleasing length of fruit over notes of spearmint and suggestions of forest floor.

  • Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay 1995
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Reserved, restrained and complex but very youthful Yarra chardonnay waiting to show off its melon/ripe apple/pear fruit and sweet charry/lemony oak. Developing a bouquet of roasted nuts, but yet to grow out of bubblegum barrel ferment characters, it has plump middle palate with sweet fruit and a balanced finish of soft acids.

  • Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay 1997
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Very oaky, forward chardonnay, whose peachy, primary fruit isn’t quite able to carry all the artefacts its makers have imposed. Rather over-awed by sweet, buttery malolactic flavours, plus leesy and expensive oak-derived impact, but a complex, flavoursome wine for the shorter term.

  • Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay 1998
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Riper and more assertive than most of its predecessors at this age, this is a huge, balanced wine whose ripe juicy citrus and pineapple fruit is complemented by typically toasty oak and bacony mlf influences. It begins rich and syrupy, finishing long and chalky with lemony acids.

  • Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay 2000
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A mature, toasty and honeyed chardonnay with a delicate fragrance of restrained stonefruit, citrus and melon aromas over nuances of oatmeal and butter. Soft and creamy, its juicy core of citrus and melon fruit is just starting to become dominated by toasty, buttery characters.

  • Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay 2005
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A high-class chardonnay whose complex and slightly smoky bouquet of melon, grapefruit and minerals has a lifted floral quality and the faintest hint of sweetcorn. Effortlessly smooth and refined, it’s generous and slightly fatty in texture, tightly marrying pristine chardonnay fruit with harmonious winemaking artefact. Finishing with refreshing mineral acids, it leaves a lingering impression of fruit and zest. With more age it has developed even more roundness and richness, a hint of orange rind and some pleasingly plump and generous citrus and melon flavour, culminating in a savoury, waxy finish.

  • Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay 2007
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A complex and beautifully composed chardonnay with a spicy, slightly funky and toasty presence of lime juice, grapefruit and butterscotch backed by funky suggestions of smoked bacon, wheatmeal and pecan pie. Long and creamy, with a silky, fluffy mouthfeel, its luscious and seamlessly integrated palate finishes with a lingering minerality and core of flavour. However, while there is no obvious presence of smoke taint, there is just enough of a hint of bitterness at the finish to make me nervous. My score assumes a taint-free wine.

  • Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay 2010
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Fine, richly flavoured and deeply fruited, with genuine elegance and finesse. Carefully knit with beautifully handled oak, it reveals a complex, floral and alluring bouquet of grapefruit, lemon blossom, stonefruit, mineral and melon with dusty, slightly charcuterie-like undertones. Smooth and polished, its creamy, seamless presence of tangy peach, nectarine and grapefruit flavours and tight-knit oak is backed by nuances of ginger and clove. Drilled into shape by tightly focused acids, it finishes with a lingering core of fruit.
