Simply astonishing. Voluminous, briary scents of cassis, blackberries, dark plums and dark chocolates reveal a whiff of roasting meats and polished leather, a hint of cracked pepper and exotic spices. It’s long and smooth, crackly and crunchy, delivering a round, soft core of fiery and vivacious cool climate shiraz flavour, bursting with black and red berries, dark plums, chocolate and meaty notes, all underpinned by a slatey spine of fine drying tannins. Beautifully balanced and harmonious, it’s a remarkable expression of and raison d’etre for this uniquely Australian style.

    $100.00

Classic Great Western shiraz given the full Champagne treatment – one of the finest examples of Australia’s unique sparkling wine. 2012 delivers a vintage whose exceptional bouquet of mulberries, cassis, dark plums and dark chocolates reveals nuances of sous bois, mushrooms and cigarbox. Long, crackly and creamy, it delivers a vivacious core of blackberries, blueberries, cassis and dark plums underpinned by a fine chalkiness. Given crunch and texture courtesy its fine effervescence, it reveals a hint of sweetness that is finely balanced by tannins and acids. Superbly balanced, already complex, it’s set for the ultra long term.

Seppelt Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris 1998
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Slightly hot and overworked, but scented with varietal tangy and lightly spicy floral and lemon blossom aromas. Its creamy, chalky palate delivers attractive juicy fruit, although there’s slightly excessive fatness and weight. Could be fresher and livelier.

Seppelt Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris 2000
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

One of the best Australian pinot gris made to date, this spicy and assertive young wine has a musky perfume of cloves, lemon blossom and white pepper, with a juicy, dusty palate whose bright lemon/apricot fruit is delivered with typical phenolic grip and refreshing acids.

  • Seppelt Mount Ida Shiraz 2004
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Musky, black pepper aromas of dark berries and plums are backed by cedary, pencil shavings-like charry oak and meaty nuances of suede leather. There is a hint of mint beneath its deeply layered palate of full to medium weight, whose blackberry, cassis and dark plum-like fruit show just a hint of jamminess. Framed by firm, mouthcoating tannins and backed by dark chocolate/vanilla oak, it’s long and smooth, before finishing with sour-edged fruit and a hint of leather.

  • Seppelt Mount Ida Shiraz 2005
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Firm and drying, with some under and over-ripe aspects, this minty shiraz has a peppery bouquet whose blackberry and cassis aromas are backed by nuances of dried herbs, meaty currant-like suggestions and chocolate oak. Long and smooth, its sour-edged expression of dark berries and plums finishes faintly sappy. Framed by fine, astringent tannin, it’s quite approachable.

  • Seppelt Mount Ida Shiraz 2006
    Jeremy’s score 85/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Hard and chunky, with an assertive smokiness that pervades its dark aromas of plums, blackberries and minerals and its rather heavy, raw and astringent palate. It appears to have been stripped of fruit, lacking length and movement down the palate.
