  • Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Assertively oaked, but with the fruit depth and structure to handle it, this is definitive Coonawarra cabernet. Scented with a heady bouquet of cassis, mulberries, violets and tightly knit vanilla/cedar oak backed by nuances of meatiness and dried herbs, itÕs long and supple, with a vivacious palate of dark fruit and fine, powdery tannins that soaks up its oak influence. Artfully made and balanced, itÕs a long-term classic.

  • Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A superb expression of medium to full-bodied Coonawarra cabernet whose pristine, mouthfilling flavours of cassis, mulberries and dark plums are deftly enhanced by fresh cedary oak and backed by hint of mineral and dried herbs. From its floral perfume to its exceptionally long and seamless finish, itÕs artfully balanced and stylish, building in richness and texture. A long-term regional classic.

  • Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Packed with fruit, this riper, classically structured and faintly mineral cabernet is scented with violets, cassis, dark olives, plums and dark chocolate oak. Smooth and polished, its sumptuous presence of dark fruit, cedar and a faint meatiness is underpinned by a fine, gravelly spine.

  • Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Elegant and stylish; steeped in mulberries, blackcurrant and dark plums, with fresh chocolate/cedar oak and a gravelly backbone. Surprisingly strong given the cool season, with smoothness, drive and some assertive acids and minty, dried herbal notes. Artfully balanced.

  • Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A pristine, stylish Coonawarra cabernet of medium to fullish weight. Scented with violets, cassis, mulberries, dark plums and fresh cedar/chocolate oak, itÕs long, elegant and firmish, with a wonderful drive of sumptuous flavour tightly wound around a finely balanced, gravelly spine. Underpinned by a suggestion of mint, itÕs just beginning to reveal some of the complexity it will certainly deliver over the very long term.

  • Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $38.00

A pristine, perfectly focused and balanced cabernet whose faintly smoky, violet-scented and cedary aromas of cassis, dark plums and mulberries reveal notes of gravel, dried herbs and cigarbox. Superbly long and textural, its restrained but plush core of handsomely ripened fruit and meaty, earthy nuances drives long and linear down a drying, gravelly spine of fine tannins towards a lingering and savoury finish. Classically polished and stylish, with deft use of creamy, cedary oak, it’s an under-priced stunner for every serious cellar of Australian wine.

    $32.00

Heady scents of violets, cassis, dark plums, cedary oak and a whiff of cigarbox precede a gentle, elegant and finely structured palate that takes some time to reveal a fine, but genuinely firm and textural and drying spine of powdery tannins. Initially very shy, it does ultimately reveal a textural and stylish expression of Coonawarra cabernet, albeit from a cooler season. While it lacks the depth and balance of this label’s top vintages, it’s artfully constructed and stylish. I’m saddened that someone felt it necessary to compromise the integrity of this famous wine’s simple and classic label by inserting ‘The Original’ above the varietal name. Classics don’t need change – they need support.
