    Voyager Estate Shiraz 2005
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A sumptuous, smooth and polished Margaret River shiraz that avoids the excessively tomato-like and greenish elements not uncommon with shirazes from this region. Its slightly meaty and gamey aromas of cassis, violets, dark chocolates and cedar are lifted by a viognier-enhanced floral perfume. Framed by firm, pliant tannins, it is long and lavishly oaked, expressing a luscious, meaty and powerfully accentuated shade of dark berry/plum flavour. Finishing with a lingering core of fruit and licorice-like spices, it’s very balanced and savoury.

Medium to full-bodied, itÕs finely made but has morphed into a typically rather exaggerated and obvious Margaret River shiraz with a sweet, forward presence of tomatoey berries and plums tightly knit with seasoned cedar/vanilla oak, backed by spicy notes of licorice and cloves and underpinned by fine, bony tannin.
