Simple, estery aromas of pineapples, lemon detergent and sherbet-like confection are backed by floral and spicy nuances. Juicy, sweet and tropical, its rather candied fruit lacks length and intensity, finishing simple and sweet. Possibly a stuck ferment?

    Petaluma Viognier 2006
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Voluptuous, candied and even slightly spiky, this concentrated and marginally sweet viognier backs its ripe flavours of melon and mango with a dusting of cloves and cinnamon. Avoiding excessive oiliness, it also presently lacks great complexity, but should develop more varietal character with time in the bottle.

    Petaluma Viognier 2007
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Spicy, rather spiky, with high-toned aromas of tangerine, apricot and banana-like esters backed by suggestions of cloves and cinnamon. Smooth, juicy and forward, itÕs rather cooked and candied, with a generous, if angular and sappy expression of rather stressed fruit backed by tinned fruit-like acids and awkward tannins. It appears to have been made from under and overripened fruit.

    Petaluma Viognier 2009
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Rather gangly and youthful, but likely to settle down with time. ItÕs floral and quite estery, with a spicy bouquet of tangerine and mineral backed by slightly varnishy notes of ginger, cloves and cinnamon plus a creamy meatiness. Long and elegant, rather spicy and spiky at present, itÕs medium to full-bodied, with a genuinely viscous presence of preserved apricots and honeysuckle underpinned by a fine chalkiness, finishing mineral but slightly angular.

Very restrained, perfumed and spicy, scented with rose oil, black tea, honeysuckle, cloves and cinnamon, with deep aromas of grapefruit and tangerine, plus a suggestion of tropical fruits. Smooth and gentle, with a vibrant expression of translucent, crystalline fruit underpinned by fine phenolics before a long, refreshing and citrusy finish.

Pristine, musky and perfumed; bright pear, apple and sweet floral notes; fresh gooseberry notes extend long and gentle over a fine chalkiness.
