A generous, juicy medium-bodied and relatively early maturing blend made with fruit that appears to have pushed the limits of ripeness. Spicy aromas of fresh red and black berries, redcurrants and blood plums lacked with nuances of pepper and game meats precede a plush, ripe palate of rather confiture-like fruit. Underpinned by a gentle, powdery spine, itÕs more of a dollop of fruit sweetness than a long and linear red for the longer term.
Very elegant, supple and measured, with a dusty, cedary and faintly herbal bouquet of fragrant cabernet -driven aromas of dark berries and violets, dark plums and sweet vanilla oak backed by lightly spicy, licorice-like notes. ItÕs medium to full-bodied, with an almost fragile presence of delicate black and red berries, cedar/vanilla oak and fine-grained, dusty and faintly sappy tannins combining evenly to finish with fresh acids and some savoury, herbal aspects. ItÕs likely to build more depth of fruit as it ages.
A gentle, elegant blend of shiraz with red Bordeaux varieties whose pastille-like bouquet of mulberries, cassis and sweet oak reveals nuances of pepper, spice and dried herbs. ItÕs smooth and polished, with a mouthfilling presence of bright, juicy small blue and black fruit flavours supported by dusty tannins and fresh oak. It just lacks the length, drive and concentration of fruit for an even higher rating.
Developing, reductive old school style whose medium-bodied presence of mulberry, blackcurrant, redcurrant fruit and restrained oak is backed by nuances of roasting meats, mint and polished leather. Supported by a fine, slatey spine, it tales a long time to breath and deliver its best.
Long and polished, this savoury and mineral wine has a spicy, floral but slightly closed bouquet of dark berries, plums and polished creamy vanilla oak. ItÕs shapely and evenly paced, with generous flavours of black and blue fruits underpinned by suggestions of mineral and iodide and underpinned by a drying, gravelly spine. More savoury and artfully balanced, with poise and style.
Fullish to medium in weight, with complex aromas of blackberries, dark plums, cassis and mulberries knit with cedar/chocolate oak underpinned by smoky undertones of dried herbs, minerals, charcuterie and cracked pepper. Forward, slightly baked and jammy, revealing some herbal and cola notes that suggest a measure of under and over-ripeness, it’s a little hollow and lacking genuine length of fruit.
