A stylish and modern interpretation of McLaren Vale shiraz whose fruit expression is perhaps a little more overripe than its alcohol strength might suggest. Tarry and slightly meaty aromas of blackberries, plums and currants are assertively matched by lightly roasted, smoky and bacony oak. Sumptuous, smooth and juicy, it’s raisined and very fruit-driven, delivering a luscious expression of sour-edged and licorice-like shiraz flavour supported by fine tannins.
Very pretty, measured and seamless, with a fragrance of violets, cassis, raspberries, dark cherries and sweet plums tightly knit with polished cedar/vanilla/chocolate oak and backed by spicy, meaty suggestions of walnut and pepper. Supple and silky, its long, even palate of vibrant fruit and smooth oak overlies a fine-grained spine of crunchy tannin, finishing with a lingering core of fruit and a hint of spirity warmth.
Now developing leathery, chocolatey complexity, this elegant, fine-grained and dusty shiraz has an alluringly pure and spicy fragrance of violets, cassis, raspberries, dark cherries and sweet vanilla/mocha oak. Full to medium weight, itÕs long and smooth, with a bright, persistent depth of fruit underpinned by pliant, gentle tannins, finishing long and savoury, with fresh acids and lingering earthy, meaty nuances.
A classic McLaren Vale shiraz of superb depth, freshness and fragrance. Lifted by sweet floral and peppery notes, its heady, earthy bouquet of sweet cassis, raspberries, dark plums and blackberries is tightly knit with polished cedar, chocolate, mocha and vanilla oak. Long and stylish, with a deep, vibrant core of intense, pristine flavour extending with elegance and charm over an ultra-fine spine of dusty tannins, it soaks up its new oak influences, finishing with remarkable freshness, balance and lingering notes of baked earth. Benchmark stuff.
A leaner, finer impression of this wine whose restrained aromas of sweet red berries, blood plums and cedar/vanilla oak overlie nuances of dried herbs and menthol. Long and gentle, its core of cranberry and redcurrant flavour is gently matched with cedary oak, finishing taut and trim with lingering notes of cola and a hint of greenish acidity.
Polished and stylish, with a spicy, smoky and meaty bouquet of sweet cassis, blackberries, blueberries and dark plums knit with fresh chocolatey oak and spicy notes of cinnamon and white pepper. It’s smooth and supple, with a pleasing depth of lively small berry and plum flavours backed by cedar/chocolate oak and supported by a drying mineral firmness. Wrapped in a refreshing acidity, it finishes with length, balance and charming focus.
A bright, faintly meaty bouquet of blackberries, cassis, blood plums and sweet cedar/vanilla oak reveals notes of cracked pepper and five spice. Medium to fullish in weight, it’s smooth and supple, presenting a long and lively core of bright red and black fruits and fresh oak supported by a fine, powdery spine. Just a little simple for an even higher rating.
