A typical Wynns Shiraz of moderate to full weight, with attractive spicy, briary fruit, hints of cracked pepper and a chewy, fleshy palate. It will need time before its harmoniously balanced qualities of red cherry and blackberry fruit, cedar/chocolate oak and firm, tight tannins settle down, but at this price you can afford the wait.
A clean, fresh and essentially honest shiraz, but more jammy and confection-like than ideal. There’s plenty of bright raspberry and red cherry fruit, a spicy shiraz lift and creamy vanilla oak. However flavoursome it is, the wine remains rather simple and lacking in length.
Supple, elegant Coonawarra shiraz with a musky, spicy floral perfume of intense blackcurrant, blackberry and plum. Smooth and silky, its sweet, supple expression of restrained dark berry fruit might lack real concentration and length, but presents delightfully peppery, spicy varietal qualities.
A sweet, spicy aroma of boiled raspberry lollies, white pepper and violets overlies nuances of creamy vanilla oak. Medium to full in weight, it’s upfront and relatively simple, delivering berry/plum flavours that lack generosity in the mid-palate and tend to dry out towards a slightly hard-edged finish. Should flesh out and soften over the short to medium term.
A spicy fragrance of sweet red berries, cassis and fresh cedary oak precedes a smooth, supple and sweet-fruited palate famed by fine, silky tannins. Long and elegant, its vibrant redcurrant and raspberry flavours are backed by fine-grained cedar/vanilla and finish with lingering fruit sweetness and delicate nuances of dried herbs.
A typically vibrant young Coonawarra shiraz of elegance and charm. Scented with violets and white pepper, its vibrant aromas of spicy redcurrant, musky and sweet cedar/vanilla oak overlie some gamey complexity. Smooth and polished, it burst with intense berry and plum flavour, with a pleasing underswell of lightly toasty and creamy oak. Framed by pliant, loose-knit tannin, it finishes with plenty of length and freshness.
Dark-fruited, stylish and handsomely crafted, this fragrant and peppery shiraz marries its vibrant, intense flavours of raspberries, red plums, cassis and dark chocolate with cedar/vanilla oak and an undercurrent of pliant but drying and firmish tannin. Scented with violets, itÕs smooth and polished, luscious and evenly ripened, long and complete. Medium to full in weight, a finely balanced regional style.
A plush, medium to full-bodied shiraz deliciously steeped in juicy, spicy and sour-edged flavours of plum, blackberries, blackcurrants and raspberries backed by meaty nuances, smooth, restrained chocolate/vanilla oak and a polished, fine-grained undercarriage of crunchy tannins. Simply brilliant value.
Terrific early-drinking shiraz, but thereÕs a lot more to this wine! A fragrance of white and black pepper, violets and sweet cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak lifts its deep aromas of cassis, blackberries and plums. ItÕs smooth and chocolatey, medium, to full in weight, with a gentle, but deeply flavoured presence of dark, briary fruit underpinned by fine, powdery tannins. It finishes savoury, with pleasing length.
