True to place, this richly flavoured and assertive shiraz has a deep bouquet of dark liqueur chocolates, blackberries, dark plums and briar backed by cedary oak, meaty, graphite-like notes and a whiff of suede leather. Smooth and velvety, with a plump, juicy presence of blackberries, cassis and dark plums underpinned by notes of roasting pan juices, it’s tightly framed by firm and drying tannins. Despite its length and power, it leaves an impression of elegance and style.
A slightly exaggerated but profoundly flavoured shiraz whose fiery aromas of dark berries, cherries and plums are underpinned by coconut/vanilla/cedar oak, smoked meats and a hint of spice. Lifted by a whiff of cracked pepper, itÕs luscious and deeply concentrated, with opulent fruit framed by a firmish but drying spine. It remains a fraction soupy with aeration but does spread out over the palate, becoming more elegant.
Typically dark, dense and chocolatey, but reflecting the elegance of the 2015 vintage, this is a long, complete and stylish expression of this label. Steeped in dark berries, plums, treacle and roast meat drippings with a whiff of black pepper, it extends long and firmish, with luscious fruit and fine-grained tannins culminating in a long and slightly meaty finish.
Full to medium in weight, with a spicy, cigarboxy presence of sour-edged cassis, dark plums and chocolatey oak with a perfume of violets and five spice and undertones of roasting meats. Supported by firm, gravelly tannins, it lacks its typical core of intensity and finishes with a note of currant.
A measured, very elegant and evenly paced expression of this wine whose sweetly oaked and unusually floral perfume of violets and small red flowers, dark cherries, cassis and blood plums reveals a whiff of dark chocolate. Its vivacious, faintly sour-edged flavours of black and blue berries knit seamlessly with tight-grained oak, finishing supple and gentle with a lively acidity.
A densely packed, textural and structural red of massive power and drive; it unfolds a fiery, gravelly, almost iodide-like bouquet of inky black berries, blueberries, dark chocolates and roasting pan notes over suggestions of bay leaf and charcoal. Its sumptuous palate of dark berry fruit and mocha-like oak overlies a very firm, drying backbone of exaggerated tannins, extending with good, if not exceptional length. It needs both time and air.
Supple and smooth Ð an elegant, briary and tight-grained cabernet whose slightly minty expression of small berry fruit reveals notes of crushed leaves and cedar/vanilla/dark chocolate oak. Long and linear, with a grainy spine of al dente tannins, itÕs a long-term prospect.
Floral, minty and cedary, with a violet-like bouquet of blackberries, cassis and dark plums, cedary oak and leathery, graphite-like development, itÕs long, faintly lean and sinewy. Supported by firmish, chalky tannins, itÕs long and faintly hollow, with just a hint of baked and overripe fruit.
A measured, elegant and stylish cabernet whose dusty, cedary bouquet of ripe, faintly jammy black and red fruit, vanilla oak and dried herbs reveals just a hint of mint and menthol. Supported by fine-grained powdery tannins, its long, juicy palate of vibrant small berry and plum-like fruit knits tightly with new cedar/cigarbox oak, finishing with balance and style.
