Long-term, fullish to medium in weight, with a vibrant expression of red, blue and black berries, dark plums and cedary oak backed by nuances of cola, dusty oak and baked earth. Supported by a fine, firmish spine of crunchy, gravelly tannins, it reveals more malbec vegetal character with aeration, finishing with freshness, style and elegance.
A smooth, polished and very concentrated red with a spicy, violet-like perfume of sweet plums, cassis and mint over smoky nuances of mocha. Very ripe, fractionally cooked and currant-like it’s round and concentrated, lifted by smooth and polished tannins, but just ends a fractional flat at the finish.
Very stylish and elegant, with juicy brightness and texture. Its ripe, almost jujube-like aromas of cassis, sweet plums and violets are backed by restrained oak and a whiff of mint. Sumptuous and smooth, its supple, willowy and tightly controlled palate bursts with intense cassis, plum and chocolate flavour. Long and seamless, it’s framed by velvet-smooth but firm tannins and enhanced by dusty vanilla oak. Terrific complexity and balance.
Dusty and slightly meaty, its fragrance of spicy redcurrants, plums and blackberries, with restrained cedar/vanilla undertones has a perfumed, floral quality. Full-bodied, firm and linear, its chewy palate of meaty, dark-fruited and earthy influences overlies a powerful, rod-like and mouth-coating spine of bony tannin. It finishes long and savoury, with lightly herbal undertones.
Profoundly true to its terroir, this rustic, meaty, black-fruited blend marries intense, minty fruit with sweet oak and powerful, but pliant tannins. There’s a hint of menthol beneath its juicy aromas of blackberries, redcurrants and dark plums, while its open, loose-knit palate is both vibrant and concentrated. It’s long, finely balanced and integrated, with charming earthy undertones.
Long, fine-grained, supple and seamless, this very regional blend reveals briary, kirsch-like flavours of blackberries, redcurrants, plums and cherries backed by nuances of underbrush and dried herbs, white pepper and menthol, mint and eucalypt backed by dusty cedar, clove and vanilla oak. ItÕs firm and chalky, with deep, slightly sappy and sour-edged black and red berry/plum fruit that becomes smoother and more polished with aeration.
By Wendouree standards, a relatively early-drinking, pliant and elegant red that has quickly found balance and harmony. Backed by nuances of baked earth, musk and meaty notes, its bouquet of blackberries, redcurrants, violets, cedar and dried herbs precedes a generous, fleshy, smooth and surprisingly luscious palate supported by a fine-grained, bony undercarriage. It finishes long, with a trace of currant-like fruit, dark plums and menthol.
Elegant, lean and supple, with a floral, lightly herbal and minty bouquet of red berries, plums and meaty undertones lifted by scents of pepper, spice and musk. Medium to full-bodied, itÕs long, finely crafted and fine-grained, with a restrained, sweet but lively presence of red berries plums and restrained oak underpinned by fine, dusty tannins. It finishes long and savoury, with a refreshing acidity.
Likely to build over the next decade, this fine, supple blend has a lightly spicy and musky fragrance of red cherries, redcurrants and dusty, cedary vanilla oak lifted by a hint of cassis and a fresh note of dried herbs. Full to medium-bodied, with a fine, drying undercarriage supporting its restrained, mouthfilling presence of dark and red cherries, berries, red plums and restrained oak, it finishes fresh and savoury, with lingering suggestions of spice and dried herbs.
Medium to full-bodied, with a slightly meaty, herbal and faintly mineral bouquet of blackberries, briary notes of cranberry and cassis and a hint of dark plum backed by nutty, cedary oak. ItÕs forward and slightly gamey, with meaty, raisiny flavours of plums and berries extending with moderate richness towards a slightly thin and menthol-like finish of dried herbs and tomato stalk. Marginally hollow, it will flesh out but does reflect a challenging season.
