Developing, leathery and raisiny red with a lightly varnishy aroma of prunes, red plums and currants over sweet vanilla oak. Smooth and chocolatey, it’s soft and generous, with rather advanced flavours of dried fruits now showing signs of age. Beginning to dry up, it finishes with soft tannins and lightly vegetal notes.
An engaging and ageing soft sweet red of complexity and presence. Its lightly varnishy bouquet of spicy and slightly cooked cherry/plum fruit and sweet vanilla oak precedes a pliant, meaty and sweet-fruited palate that dries out very slightly towards a savoury finish. Lacks great length and ready to drink now.
Soft and spirity, this slightly porty, tarry and old-fashioned red has already developed earthy and leathery complexity. Its slightly meaty, prune-like aromas of plums, raisins and cinnamon/clove spices precede a smooth and gentle palate whose spicy and slightly herbal flavours of dark plums and red berries are framed by slightly green-edged and metallic tannins.
Beginning to show signs of age, this meaty, spicy and floral grenache has a sweet, earthy fragrance whose aromas of raspberries, cloves and cinnamon are backed by suggestions of baked berries and currants. Of moderate length, its fine and supple palate of spicy, currant-like fruit and firm, bony tannin shows signs of breaking up and finishes just fractionally short.
A delicious, old-fashioned red of charm and maturity. Spicy and earthy, its peppery bouquet of red plums, cranberries and redcurrants is lifted by a floral note and a suggestion of dried herbs. Backed by firm, pliant tannin, its long, mouthfilling and silky-smooth palate simply bursts with spicy dark plum and berry flavours, with a complex background of meaty, gamey and leathery influences.
Elegant and deeply flavoured, with earthy, leathery aromas of red plums, dark chocolate, blueberries and blackberries lifted by spicy floral notes and backed by a hint of older oak. ItÕs luscious, confiture-like and velvety, an older style Barossa red whose intense small berry flavours are backed by smooth tannins and finished by soft acids.
Supple, smooth and elegant, this older, meaty and gentle style sports a peppery lift to its restrained, complex aromas. Steeped in blackberries, dark plums, blueberries and raspberries, with undertones of older oak and polished leather, itÕs charming and sweetly fruited core of vibrant fruit is framed by fine, loose-knit tannins, finishing with a lingering licorice-like note of blackberries and briar.
Early-drinking and modestly fruited, this traditional, rather leathery blend has a peppery, spicy bouquet of sweet, slightly jammy blueberries, raspberries and blackberries lifted by a perfume of red flowers. ItÕs smooth and supple, with a pliant, soft and spicy palate finishing quite savoury, with licorice-like and earthy nuances. ItÕs ready to go now.
Showing signs of age, this rather cooked and forward blend has a slightly raisined, earthy and leathery bouquet of blackberries backed by meaty, pruney notes and a delicate floral note. Moderately rich and framed by fine, drying tannins, its slightly porty palate of raisins, prunes and currants reveals a hint of blood plum, but lacks richness and depth.
A charming, lightly oaked and rustic blend with the ability to age. Its spicy, floral bouquet of deep blood plum, blueberry and cherry aromas reveals earthy and leathery undertones, while its evolving, brightly lit and evenly paced palate delivers an earthy, meaty length of brightly lit fruit framed by marginally green-edged acids and tannins that itÕs likely to age through. It finishes with length, freshness and balance.
An early-drinking red that slowly reveals some genuine fruit and structure. Its dusty, lightly herbal and cola-like bouquet of red cherries, plums and berries overlies a faint earthiness, while its initially juicy palate avoids green edges but lacks true length of flavour.
