Alkoomi Black Label Shiraz Viognier 2013
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A firmish, elegant and spicy red whose wild, slightly meaty, earthy and lifted floral aromas of blackberries, briar, dark plums and cracked pepper are backed by suggestions of smoked meats. Its juicy presence of blackberries, blackcurrant and dark plums knits tightly with fresh chocolate/cedary oak, extending down a drying, dusty spine towards a lingering, brightly lit finish of fresh acids and a persistent licorice note.

Alkoomi Black Label Shiraz Viognier 2014
    Jeremy’s score 86/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Meaty, floral aromas of raspberries, cherries and cassis with unusual tropical undertones are greenish and confectionary. ItÕs smooth and gentle, soft and juicy, with a strange stonefruit-like presence rather overshadowing its shiraz-derived flavours of small red fruits. Supported by drying, chalky tannins, it finishes with fresh acids. Rather than support the shiraz in this blend, viognier has hijacked it.

    Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Blend 2000
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A fine, long-term regional blend of Bordeaux varieties of classical elegance and style. Scented with cedary oak, violets, cassis, blackberries and mulberries backed by nuances of dark olives and dried herbs, itÕs long, earthy, fine-grained and tightly focused. Surprisingly youthful and vibrant, with pristine flavours of small dark berries, plums and cedary/chocolatey oak underpinned by mouthwatering, crunchy tannins, itÕs long and stylish, finishing with a lingering impression of intense, almost bloody malbec fruit.

    Rated 0 out of 5

Firm and well structured, with an earthy, cedary bouquet of slightly cooked cassis, dark plum and mulberry aromas. There are underlying nuances of chocolate and crushed ant. Its powerful, long and fine-grained palate harmoniously delivers intense and well-ripened dark berry and plum fruit tightly knit with cedary oak.

    Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Blend 2002
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Presently rather disjointed, but likely to find more balance with time in the bottle, this firm and astringent dry red cloaks its deep flavours of dark plums, redcurrants, mulberries and blackberries around sweet new chocolate and vanilla oak and a sinewy spine of dusty tannins. There’s a hint of cedar beneath its smoky, oaky bouquet, while it finishes with a persistent hint of dark olives.

    Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Blend 2004
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A polished, smooth and elegant cabernet blend of AlkoomiÕs typically unctuous and dark-fruited style. Its confiture-like fragrance of blackberries, dark plums and cassis reveals herbal undertones of crushed vine leaves and cedary oak. Silky and refined, the palateÕs deep fruit flavours and dusty, lightly smoky vanilla oak are coated by fine tannins. Tightly focused, it finishes with a tangy note of dark olives.

    Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Blend 2005
    Jeremy’s score 81/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A tiring, ageing, green-edged red that lacks freshness and character. ThereÕs some presence of forward dark fruit, but it becomes more greenish, meaty and currant-like down the palate, finishing quite thin, raw and metallic.

    Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Blend 2007
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A robust, evenly ripened, longer-term red of balance and charm. A restrained perfume of small red and black berries, cedar/vanilla oak is dusted by a note of dried herbs and lifted by a scent of violets. Backed by nuances of dried herbs and freshly turned earth, its firm, assertive but cultivated palate of ripe black and red berries, fresh oak and slightly blocky tannins will take some time to settle.

    Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Blend 2008
    Jeremy’s score 89/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Already showing some polished leather-like development, this ageing cabernet blend marries a fiery presence of black and red fruits with assertive, slightly raw mocha-like cedar/chocolate oak. Surprisingly refined and light-footed on the palate, with an earthy, meaty expression of dark, briary fruit, it finishes slightly green-edged and metallic. Suggestive of a marginally uneven ripening.
