An assertive, powerful shiraz with fragrant, meaty aromas of sweet berries, overtones of spicy prunes, currants and plums, plus a suggestion of black pepper. Richly structured, but lacking its customary core of vibrant fruit, it’s perhaps a wine of shorter-term cellaring than usual from this vineyard.

    Rated 0 out of 5

A classic Clare Valley shiraz steeped in deep, slightly minty aromas of blackberries, blueberries, plums and cassis, with a background of spice and restrained vanilla oak. Long, firm and powerfully structured, its palate is saturated with intense small berry flavours over nuances of chocolate mint and menthol, framed by fine-grained tannins. A fine marriage of power and elegance.

    $170.00

A powerful shiraz with structure, fruit and presence. It’s still rather closed at present but unfolds deep aromas of blackberries, cranberries, cassis and dark plums backed by dusty suggestions of cloves, leather and lightly mocha-like vanilla oak. Sumptuous and succulent, its concentrated expression of dark fruits and olives reveals hints of currant but still deliver plenty of genuine ripeness and vibrancy. Framed by drying, fine-grained and mouth-coating tannins, it finishes with a lingering meatiness and the presence of dark olives and currants. Should develop very well.

Heady floral notes and suggestions of clove and cinnamon-like spices overlie a brooding bouquet whose aromas blackberries, blueberries, cassis and dark plums are tightly knit with fine-grained oak. Framed by firm, powdery tannin, it unfolds layers of searingly intense and slightly sour-edged, juicy plum and berry fruit backed by spicy, minty nuances and restrained oak. Very firm and astringent, but already very approachable, entirely natural and finely balanced.

    Wendouree Shiraz 2006
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Firm, focused, tight and astringent, this typical, traditional long-term Wendouree shiraz cloaks its deeply layered but tight-fisted expression of black and red berries, plums and cherries in a firm, drying grip of astringent tannins. ThereÕs an ethereal quality about its restrained but complex perfume, which reveals nuances of cloves, white pepper and a hint of leather. It reveals more density and richness with aeration, even some genuine fruit sweetness, but finishes firm, long and briary, with lingering nuances of blackberry, licorice and iodide.

Charmingly elegant, smooth and supple, this pristine and finely balanced shiraz has a heady bouquet of violets, cassis, raspberries and blackberries backed by fresh cedar/vanilla oak and lifted by scents of white pepper and rose garden-like aromas. With a fine, bony spine of powdery tannins tightly would around its pure presence of dark and red berries, redcurrants and dark plums, chocolate/vanilla oak, it finishes with excellent length and freshness.

    Wendouree Shiraz 2012
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A beautifully balanced, pure and mouthwatering young shiraz whose faintly smoky, peppery aromas of juicy cassis, blackberries, raspberries and sweet cedar/vanilla oak are lifted by scents of violets and exotic spices. Full to medium-bodied, itÕs long and elegant, with pristine small berry and plum flavours deftly knit with fine-grained oak, powdery tannins and a refreshing acidity, finishing with exceptional persistence and harmony. ItÕs still very primary and elemental and should cellar wonderfully well.
