Plantagenet Aquitaine Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

Attractively restrained and vibrant, this elegant and supple cabernet has a wild, briary and earthy perfume of violets, ripe red berries and redcurrants backed by cedar/vanilla oak and suggestions of undergrowth. Its vibrant berry cassis and mulberry flavours reveal underlying suggestions of tobacco and cedar, culminating in a fine-grained finish of lingering fruit and dried herb influences.

Winery

Plantagenet
The founding winery of the Mount Barker subregion, Plantagenet has access to some of the area's more mature vineyards. Over the years it has proven capable of exceptional Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, while its Chardonnay has become rather more consistent. Style, however, has refined somewhat from rather more blocky and robust reds of yesteryear towards a rather more suitable, elegant and fine-grained expression that works better in this cool environment.
