Paradise IV The Bates Ford Shiraz (Formerly Shiraz Cabernet) 2011

A pinot by another other name, with an alluringly musky, floral and spicy fragrance of black and red berries and cherries, violets and rose petals backed by perfumed oaky notes and a hint of plum. Underpinned by fine, crunchy tannins, its pristine, supple and juicy presence of vibrant blackberry and plum flavour backed by spicy notes of cloves and licorice delivers both lusciousness and elegance, finishing with wonderful balance and purity as well as some gamey, meaty complexity.

Paradise IV
Paradise IV is one of the most sought-after labels in Victorian wine. It sits at the cutting edge of where cool climate Victoria is destined to head -Ę towards distinctive and unique expressions of special terroirs using a carefully chosen marriage of site, variety and philosophy. The Chardonnay is by some margin the finest from the Geelong region while the elegant, medium-weight and savoury Dardel Shiraz is a wine of international stature and greatness. Sadly -Ę to put it mildly -Ę its owners ripped up the vineyard prior to the 2019 harvest. Fortunately, for the immediate future at least, the spectacular 2017 vintage is in barrel and the 2018 wines are happily brooding in oak.
