Paradise IV Dardel Shiraz 2009

A sensual, Grand Cru experience from Geelong shiraz, and a remarkable expression of an Australian terroir. A heady, voluminous bouquet deeply layered with floral scents and a lustrous presence of small dark fruits, underbrush and cocoa, with assertive suggestions of mocha, musky spices and briar. Its unctuous, plush and vibrant palate of dark, juicy fruit and fresh, fine-grained oak are underpinned by assertive, mouth-watering but fine tannins, and finish with meaty, earthy nuances and a near-perfect balance of soft acids.

Paradise IV
Paradise IV is one of the most sought-after labels in Victorian wine. It sits at the cutting edge of where cool climate Victoria is destined to head -Ę towards distinctive and unique expressions of special terroirs using a carefully chosen marriage of site, variety and philosophy. The Chardonnay is by some margin the finest from the Geelong region while the elegant, medium-weight and savoury Dardel Shiraz is a wine of international stature and greatness. Sadly -Ę to put it mildly -Ę its owners ripped up the vineyard prior to the 2019 harvest. Fortunately, for the immediate future at least, the spectacular 2017 vintage is in barrel and the 2018 wines are happily brooding in oak.
