Medium to fullish in weight, its seamless and vivacious presence of dark berries and plums, cedar/chocolate oak and meaty undertones moves down a crunchy spine of chalky tannins before finishing fresh and savoury, with lingering notes of spice, fruit and meatiness. All South Australian shiraz makers should taste this wine.

The team from Sahw + Smith, comprising Michael Hill Smith, Martin Shaw, Adam Wadewitz and David LeMire, are partners in this exciting new label which produces a collection of four wines from a vineyard planted in Blewitt Springs in 1939. The site is typically sandy and the wines it produces are fragrant and made to enhance perfume and flavour, perhaps in a style that is more European than traditional Australian.
