Mitchelton Airstrip Marsanne Roussanne Viognier Blend 2012

Likely to flesh out a little over time, this reserved, savoury white blend has a lightly spicy and floral bouquet of stonefruit, honeysuckle and creamy, nutty, yeast-derived undertones. Smooth and gentle, with a slightly shy presence of peach and citrus fruit supported by a pithy texture, it finishes long and lively with a refreshing acidity and lingering waxy notes.

Winery

Since buying the property and brand in 2011, the Ryan family has developed Mitchelton into one of the signature destinations in Australian wine, featuring a brilliantly appointed boutique hotel and day spa. The property also hosts The Muse restaurant and the Mitchelton Gallery of Aboriginal Art (Australia's largest) and its remarkable contemporary collection. Currently undergoing a major renovation in its extensive vineyard, Mitchelton is steadily moving towards a focus on white and red varieties from the Rhone Valley in France - such as shiraz, grenache, mourvedre, marsanne and roussanne - all the while retaining and developing what is perhaps its most consistent wine over the decades, the Blackwood Park Riesling.
