Larry Cherubino
Larry and Edwina Cherubino are fast-tracking a range of Western Australian wine of breathtaking depth and ambitious quality. Sooner or later they might have a range broad enough to justify its own book! Under the two principal tiers of 'Cherubino' (the high end) and 'The Yard', are emerging a steadily increasing collection of individual vineyard wines that reflect the strengths and differences of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, riesling, sauvignon blanc and chardonnay planted across a number of the state's leading sub-regions. It's a challenge in itself to keep on top of this range, but a worthwhile one. The red wines tend to reflect a relatively high level of flavour ripeness which is then given some fairly handsome oak treatment. In my view, the whites -Ę from riesling and sauvignon blanc especially -Ę are more tightly balanced and stylish.
