Hewitson Ned & Henry’s Shiraz (Formerly Shiraz Blend) 2002

Wonderfully soft smooth and old-fashioned Australian red ‘burgundy’ style whose meaty slightly musky aromas of prunes and currants are backed by sweet vanilla and cedar oak Its earthy luscious velvet-like palate is quite developed presenting a rich mouthful of plum licorice and spicy flavours The longer it’s opened the more fruit it reveals Very gluggable

Hewitson
Dean Hewitson's wines reflect a technical stability and correctness plus a level of artisanship rare in Australian wine. His wines are so much more perfumed, restrained and elegant than most wines from the Barossa and McLaren vale, but deliver a lustrous intensity that only great vineyards can achieve. There's a true house style here, which is the envy of most small producers the world over. No wines reflect this better than the two mourvŹdres, each of which can produce a fragrance, purity and silkiness more commonly experienced with pinot noir.
