There’s viscosity and intensity on the palate, but its plush, minty core of dark fruit lacks great length and drive as well as tannic support, finishing soft and without its customary focus. From a very challenging season.

Best's Great Western
An icon in Australian wine, BestŐs is an historic winery in western Victoria whose shirazes rate among AustraliaŐs finest. Typical Great Western in style, they're steeped in fruit, laced with black pepper and exotic spices, but achieve a depth of fruit, strength and structure without appearing ham-fisted or clunky. The Bin No. '0' and Thomson Family Reserve Shirazes from 2014 reflect the intensity and harmony of this excellent vintage and will both cellar for the long term. Like several others from this region and from the nearby Henty area, Best's pristine and long-living Riesling continues to improve in its traditional off-dry style.
