Smoky and gravelly, with bright cassis aromas knit with cedary, cigarboxy oak backed by suggestions of gravel and dried herbs. Underpinned by drying, mineral tannins, its plush core of dark plums and blackcurrants extends with drive and elegance towards an austere, if slightly minty finish.

Based in north-east Victoria, Brown Brothers occupies a unique place in Australian wine because it has continually shown a determination to make table wines out of virtually every variety grown commercially in this country. This is proving a major advantage in key export markets such as the UK and China where wines like the light-bodied red Tarrango, the sweet, low-alcohol and lightly spritzig red variety Cienna, the summertime Zibibbo wines and the luscious Orange Muscat & Flora are particularly popular. The flagship Patricia sparkling wine continues to impress at a very high level, cementing its place amongst Australia's leading sparkling wines. The Patricia range has been beefed up by the release of the luscious 2010 Chardonnay (95/100, drink 2018-2022+), the finest dry white this company has released for many a year.
