Mayer
Timo Mayer is an experienced and capable Yarra Valley winemaker who had established a long involvement with Gembrook Hill before developing his own eponymous label. Herein lies a fascinating collection of pinots, shiraz and chardonnay of which the reds are clearly the most interesting and indeed controversial due to their significant component of whole bunch fermentation (i.e. with stalks). While this works at a high success rate with Mayer's collection of pinots, the results are more erratic with shiraz.
