Steeped in ripe, luscious flavours of sweet red and black berries and plums knit with assertive chocolate/cedar/vanilla oak, itÕs framed by firm but pliant tannins, finishing with power and length, if not perhaps yet charm and balance.

This comparatively large Clare Valley maker releases some occasionally delicious young wines under its main varietal label Đ such as the 2014 Shiraz Đ plus some rather more expensive and very traditional Australian styles under its St Andrews brand. With another fine release from 2014, the St Andrews Riesling remains the company's finest wine. The new 'ultra-premium' The Visionary label, priced around $120 per bottle, has entered the market with some success, its best wine to date being the very refined and silky Shiraz from 2010 (95/100, drink 2030-2040).
