Winery
Wendouree
Wendouree is an iconic maker of small volumes of deeply flavoured, firmly structured and finely crafted red wine from its historic dryland Clare Valley vineyard. No cellar of fine Australian wine can be considered complete without a representation from this remarkable site. Shunning as much from the modern world as they are able to get away with Tony and Lita Brady manage some of the finest sites and most mature vines in the region. A decade or so ago they scaled some spectacular heights, building more finely integrated structure into their reds. I have not tasted so many of their more recent releases, but those that I have suggest they don't quite deliver the completeness and balance of which the sites have proven capable. As an avid enthusiast of this label, I can only wish the proprietors well, since they are managing a unique slice of Australian wine history.
