Winery

Jasper Hill
Jasper Hill is a dryland vineyard planted since 1975 on soils derived from Cambrian period basaltic rock of 500-600 million years age. It is without question the iconic vineyard of the Heathcote wine region in central Victoria, and since the 2009 vintage has re-emerged as one of Australia's most important vineyards. While the 2011 season prohibited the release of the premier labels, the 2012 releases reprised the multilayered depth and complexity of the 2010 wines, with rare intensity, purity and vivacious character. There's grace and balance about them that should ensure a longevity reminiscent of the great releases of the late 1980s and early 1990s. In actual fact, these wines are probably even better still. The 2013s are very good, steeped in fruit, oak and balanced extract, but lack the vitality and brightness of the top vintages.
