Winery
Montara
Initially developed by Mike McRae but owned by the Stapleton family since 2006, Montara is today a mature vineyard south of Ararat that has specialised in red wines, especially shiraz and pinot noir, although the complexity, texture and focus of its Riesling has been elevated under the winemaking direction of the experienced Leigh Clarnette. The current releases are the finest ever from this estate, with the Riesling and savoury Shiraz leading the way.
