Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Shiraz 2003
A very ripe and generous shiraz that should carry its 15.5% alcohol while its fruit remains bright and lively. There’s some meaty, musky and ultra-ripe currant and prune-like aromas lifted by sweet vanilla and smoky oak, while the palate reveals more purity and vitality. Smooth and silky, its deep minty flavours of cassis, blackberries and dark plums are framed by moderately firm tannins and knit tightly around sweet, lightly charry vanilla oak. There’s just a hint of cooked fruit at the finish.
