Moss Wood Wilyabrup Chardonnay 2006
Sumptuous and heavily worked, this richly flavoured chardonnay will mature earlier than most from this maker. Smoky, buttery and honeyed, with pungent, creamy, leesy influences, sweet vanilla oak and rather overt butterscotch malolactic qualities, its slightly confectionary, banana and sweetcorn-like qualities are presently on the angular side, but should integrate better. It finishes with a pleasing savoury, matchstick-like note.

Moss Wood
Moss Wood occupies a special place in Australian wine. One of the founding vineyards of the Margaret River region, it was the first to establish iconic status, where it was quickly joined by Cullen and Vasse Felix. After some years in which the winemaking and viticulture appear to have lost focus, there are indeed signs of a possible return to Moss Wood's historically expected form. The 2013 Amy's Cabernet Sauvignon has more polish and finesse than several preceding vintages, while the currently available whites from Bordeaux varieties are right on cue.
