Metala
Metala is an historic Australian brand sourced from a very old vineyard in Langhorne Creek. Its original shiraz vines contribute to the ÔBlack LabelŐ Shiraz, a wine usually given plenty of oak treatment. The rather charming and quite historic ÔstandardŐ or ÔWhite LabelŐ blend of shiraz with cabernet sauvignon is typically supple, minty and packed with intense berry flavour. While these wines have generally managed to avoid the salinity issues faced by many other Langhorne Creek reds in recent years, they have tended towards riper and styles than the classics from yesteryear, many of which will live longer than recent releases. Fortunately the 2012 vintage is a superb example of the old Metala style and gives great hope that style and balance are being restored.
