Green-edged aromas of dark berries and cherries with musky, tomato-stalk undertones precede a sappy, herbaceous palate whose fruit and structure appear to be supported via some under-ripe stalky components. The result is a skinny mid palate with a vegetal undercurrent suggestive of green pepper. Unlikely to age well.

Chatto
Jim Chatto leads a busy life, being the chief winemaker for the McWilliams' Mount Pleasant brand in the Hunter Valley, for Kreglinger in northern Tasmania (Pipers Brook, Ninth island and Kreglinger), as well as the Chatto label, which he owns and operates with his wife Daisy. A pinot noir specialist in the Huon Valley, Chatto has become a standard bearer for the sommelier set and a number of high-profile wine critics. From my perspective, I would like to see more work to enhance the structure, integrity and length of the Chatto pinots.
