I'm sure that Wolf Blass, the man, would be saddened to see what has become of Wolf Blass, the wine brand. It wasn't that long ago that Wolf Blass was one of the three to four most respected and identified brands in Australian wine, offering consistent quality and value up and down its extensive hierarchy of ranges. The Red and Yellow label ranges are still ubiquitous, but the fine collection of Gold Label reds and whites, the Grey and Black Label reds plus the Platinum Label red seem to have disappeared almost without trace. The Grey Label Chardonnay featured on this platform is apparently from the same vineyards as the former White Label Chardonnay - a wine I respected deeply. I'm not sure what the management of Treasury Wine Estates has in mind for this brand, but surely some oxygen would be in order.
