Epis
Domaine Epis is a small Macedon Ranges producer that specialises in silky, perfumed Pinot Noir and austere, mineral Chardonnay from its meticulous estate block near Woodend, plus a finely crafted and potentially long-living Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot from the mature Williams Vineyard near Kyneton, that was initially developed by central Victorian wine pioneer, Laurie Williams. Owner and operator Alex Epis, whose journey into wine occurred at a rather later time of life than most destined to craft extraordinary examples of it, is devoted to the health of his vineyard and the ripeness of his consistently low crops. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay can be simply outstanding – as shown by the 2020 and 2019 wines respectively – and the consistency from this small vineyard is something truly remarkable.
