Yeringberg Viognier 2012
Likely to evolve into a wine of unctuous, seductive charm. Its heady, floral and waxy bouquet of apricot blossom, cinnamon and creamy, nutty notes of smoked meat-like complexity precedes an intense, elegant and opulent palate underpinned by rather a firmish, grippy extract. It finishes with a soft acidity and should settle down with balance and style.

Winery
Yeringberg
Yeringberg is unquestionably one of the most significant sites in Victorian viticulture, making small volumes of fastidiously grown wine in the cellars beneath its historic 19th century winery. Its hallmark elegance, restraint, perfume and intensity tend to help its tiny volumes of wine age quite beautifully. While the Viognier lacks its usual refinement, the 2013 whites stand up very well indeed. The Burgundian varieties are responsible for the highlights of the current wines, but in suggesting that it's important to add that the overall standard is again very high and consistent. Yeringberg's wine encapsulates what has made the Yarra Valley special for nearly 170 years.
