Primo Estate Joseph Angel Gully Shiraz 2004

Right on the style cue for this wine comes this luscious, seamless and finely integrated shiraz whose brooding, mocha-like aromas of dark plums, berries and black pepper reveal undertones of dried earth and charcuterie meats. Initially closed and introverted, it steadily opens layers and length of luscious black, briary fruit, spicy vanilla oak, all of which is framed handsomely by a drying cut of firm astringency.

Primo Estate
Joe Grilli has evolved a typically eclectic mix of wines such as the La Magia Riesling, Sparkling Red, Nebbiolo and the Double Pruned cabernet under his Joseph label which reflect his unique creativity, artistic flair and technical competence. For more than 25 years he has been at the cutting edge of Australian wine and his benchmark reds of Joseph 'Moda' and Angel Gully Shiraz are regularly outstanding and long-living. Of particular note today is the emerging mid-priced bracket of Primo Estate wines such as the Zamberlan blend, the Shale Stone Shiraz and the consistently delicious Il Briccone, each of which reflect Grilli's personal European spin on the expression of Australian terroir.
