Young Sommelier of the Year

Felicitations to Andrew Guard, sommelier at Sydney’s Banc Restaurant for seeing off all the other finalists to win Champagne Devaux’ inaugural Young Sommelier of the Year. Several senior sommeliers and James Halliday grilled Andrew and other finalists through a series of blind tastings, food and wine matching presentations and service skills. Andrew’s prize is a trip to Champagne during this vintage and a week exploring other French wine regions. Every person who dines out benefits from awards like this, so keep it up, Devaux!
