You push the button, they’ll push the cap!

Now here’s a chance to try something different. A winemaking outfit in Beechworth that calls itself Interactive Winemaking is giving you the chance to have them make a barrel of wine to your precise specifications. The idea is that you make the major decisions, they do the work. You can choose from a range of varieties, regions and treatments such as barrel type, bottle shape and cork, not to mention label. You follow the progress of your wine online at the site, www.interactive-winemaking.com, receive samples along the way and less than twelve months later, they say, your 264 bottles can even be delivered. Headed by experienced winemaker Tony Lacy, this sounds a neat although a potentially interesting one should the customers find their barrel fails to meet expectations. Then they’ll find out how hard small batch winemaking really is!
