[yellow tail] now biggest imported wine in USA

One of the major reasons why Australia recently pipped France in volume of wine sales to the massive US market is [yellow tail], the stunningly successful off-the-shelf brand bought by the Casella winery from Adelaide-based designer Barbara Harkness. Yellow Tail has just become the single largest imported wine brand into the US, overtaking well-established Australian brands like Jacob’s Creek, Lindemans and Rosemount, as well as major imported brands like Riunite from Italy. According to the latest AC Nielsen research figures, Casella has 23.4% of the US market to Lindemans’ 21.1%, Rosemount’s 17.0% and Jacobs Creek’s 7.9%. Why this phenomenon is not major national news is simply beyond me. It is one of the greatest Australian export success stories of modern times. OnWine first broke the news of Yellow Tail.
