McWilliam’s has clocked up seven consecutive years as the Most Successful Exhibitor at the Royal Sydney Wine Show. In doing so it collected three other trophies, namely: the Most Successful Exhibitor in varietal table wine classes, the Most Successful Exhibitor in aged vintage table wine classes and the Best Varietal Table Wine (Riesling, dry style) of the show for the Brand’s of Coonawarra 1996 Riesling (16.8, drink 1998-2001). Three table wines collected three trophies each. The Best Wine of the Show, Best White Wine of the Show and Best White Table Wine in premium and aged vintage classes was nominated as Tyrrell’s 1993 Vat 1 Semillon (18.7. drink 2001-2005+). Pepper Tree Wines’ 1998 Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon (18.0, drink 2006-2010) collected its three for the Best Cabernet Sauvignon, the Best Wine in Varietal Classes and the Best Dry Red of the Show. Similarly, Mildara Wines was awarded three for the affordable Mildara Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 1998, being for the Best dry red table wine (commercial classes), the Best Medium Bodied Red Wine in the Show and as the Exhibitor of the medium bodied red table wine gaining the highest number of points in classes 6 and 22. The Seppelt individual vineyard wines enjoyed an excellent show, with the 1999 Drumborg Pinot Noir (18.3, drink 2004-2007) winning the trophy for the Best Pinot Noir, the 1998 Great Western Vineyard Shiraz winning the Best Dry Red Table Wine in Premium Classes. Tatachilla won two trophies, with the 1998 Clarendon Merlot (17.0, drink 2003-2006) being named Best Merlot, and for the best show wine exhibited at major state wine shows within the preceding 12 months (a 1998 Dry Red Cabernet Sauvignon).
