A significantly lower than expected 2000 vintage and a robust 32% increase by volume of wine exports to the end of February this year will both serve to reduce any anticipated surplus in Australian wine. Orlando Wyndham’s chief winemaker Phil Laffer has said that an inability to meet potential demand for the country’s largest export brand, Jacob’s Creek, will result in some degree of rationing in export markets.
