One of the first wines to capture the unwooded freshness and intensity of several white varieties in the ‘WA Classic’ style was the of course the role model itself, the as-named wine from Evans & Tate. A fresh, primary wine in the early-drinking cafe style, the 1997 WA Classic presents a melange of grassy passionfruit, gooseberry, capsicum and lychee flavours. Forward and creamy, it finishes fresh and zesty. It’s rated 16.8 and retails around $15. Drink 1997-1998.
