You could have knocked me over when I tasted this refreshing, slightly sweet and distinctively varietal chenin blanc the other month, for it was grown and made in Thailand. Its lightly dusty, grassy and honeyed aromas and pleasing length of clean, herbal fruit finish with clean acids and lingering flavours. In fact, I’d be happy to give a bronze medal mark to the Chateau De Loei Chenin Blanc 2000, the first Thai wine I’ve been this impressed by. You can pick it up from most decent supermarkets in Bangkok.
